LEADERS don’t chase opportunity…

LEADERS prepare for Opportunity, then SPRING AHEAD of the pack when Opportunity arrives!

Have you ever felt like you were chasing rabbits in your career?

Have you seen opportunity slip away because you weren’t ready?

Have you thrown your resume at every open position at work, without any response?

Do you feel like your career has no direction?

Hello!  My name is Danny McCraine. I, too, have felt like you! I created this leadership course out of my personal experience chasing “rabbits.”

Let me tell you my story!

After my band director position was cut at a small, private school, I entered the corporate workforce with no clear direction about a new career.  I spent some time as a customer service representative taking phone calls, but all the while trying to move up to a higher level position.  Because I didn’t know where I was going, I fruitlessly threw my resume at every open position.  After two years, I managed to secure a position in the Training Department.

In the Training Department, I realized the future of our department was in computer-based learning, so I purposely set out to become the department expert in this area.  I read everything I could get my hands on about this option, and attended seminars.  My passion caught fire with the department management team.  While it took more than a year to get through the corporate red tape, our department created an e-learning team, and I am one of the founding members!  With a nice raise, I might add!

What about you?

From my vantage point as a corporate trainer, I know that many corporations dumped their employee development programs during the recessions to cut expenses and stay afloat.  Those programs have not returned, but some day, those corporations will be hiring again, and opportunities for promotion will appear!  At that time, it will be too late to pursue personal leadership development to chase promotion! You want to be ready when opportunity for promotion appears!

Too many people have no clear direction for their career or even their life!  They run after everything that looks like an opportunity for advancement.   They chase the most elusive rabbit–Success!  I’ve been there, too.  I began applying the leadership principles I teach in my courses, and I am now a recognized leader in my field across the nation.  I prepared myself for success, and success found me!  I guarantee that what you will learn in my courses will change your life!

There are eight leadership principles in this story that I teach in Introduction to Leadership. Do you practice them all?
